Ready to take your ties off the floor and into the skies? In this 4-part series we'll cover the basics for rope suspension. The series runs from July through October. CRJ meets the 3rd Sunday of each month from noon to 3pm.
Part 1 - July: Anatomy for Rope (Presented by Cat_in_Rope and sufferpig)
Don't know your radial nerve from your ulnar? Worried about purple thighs? While also important for floor ties, a thorough understanding of anatomy is crucial for suspensions. By the end of this class you'll know the primary anatomical dangers of rope suspension and how to best avoid them.
Upcoming classes in the series:
Part 2 - August: Rope Material Choices and Basic Suspension Harnesses (Presented by MsLas and JackOfAllKinks)
What's the difference between jute, hemp, nylon, and POSH? Why should you care? We'll cover the pros and cons of different rope choices as they relate to suspension. Then we'll learn simple, suspension worthy harnesses including modifications for different body types.
Part 3 - September: Hangers, Lock-Offs and Up-Lines. Oh My! (Presented by KnotSadistic)
We'll cover how to properly attach uplines to your body ties and securely tie off the up-lines. We'll also discuss how to manage that tangle of ropes on your ring and how to handle emergency situations.
Part 4 - October: Bottom-Centric Concerns and Self-Suspension (Presented by KnottyButtGood)
What's the difference between actively and passively being in rope? Do you know the difference between blood congestion and nerve impingement in your own body? How do you negotiate with yourself? Join us for an exploration into bottom-centric rope, and introduction to getting yourself into the air!
Presenter Bios
Cat_in_Rope (she/her) has been part of the kink community for almost 3 years. She has loved rope from the beginning as a bottom, and is now learning to self-tie. She enjoys all styles and textures of rope, being in rope is her happy place. Working in healthcare and cardiac for over 20 years, she believes it’s important to know the body when tying to avoid short and long-term harm.
sufferpig (she/her) has been rope bottoming for several years. Occasionally, she dabbles in some self-tying and tying others; she hopes to learn more as time allows. Some of her favorite things about rope are the artistry and creativity, as well as the opportunities for self-expression that it affords. She is grateful for the unique experiences that suspensions, decorative rope, and floor ties have provided, especially when it comes to deepening connections with those she loves most.
Dynamics Dungeon membership is not required for this event.
Three ticket options are available:
Our goal is to bring rope education to all who desire it. If the solidarity ticket price is too high or they're sold out, contact KnotSadistic for scholarship options. No one is turned away for inability to pay.
We have hard points available and a limited supply of mats for floor work. You may want to bring a yoga mat or similar in case we run out. Free loaner rope is also available if you don't have your own. All skill levels welcome! After the main class we'll have a Rope 101 session for people who are new to rope or want a refresher.
Don't have a partner? While many people come as couples, many also come alone. Some classes work well for self-tying and some do not. If in doubt about whether a partner is recommended for a given class please reach out to the organizer.
Psst. Hey, you... the one who clicks Interested for every event. The one who wants to go but you talk yourself out of it because it seems too intimidating. We feel you. Want to just curl up on the couch, eat cookies and watch? You can totally do that here.
